I am…Ms. Not-Right-Now

I’m no expert–just someone willing to put it all out there in an effort to help others.

For those of you wondering who am I and why the blog…

Why the blog? The Misadventures of Ms. Not-Right-Now is dedicated to that something-or-other-percent of black women who aren’t married–yet. Whether you’re single because there supposedly aren’t any good black men left or because they simply haven’t changed the gay marriage laws in your state, I call us girls Ms. Not-Right-Nows! We’re somewhere navigating the in-betweens of new age philosophies and good ole tradition. We’ve got marriage on one hand and casual sex on the other. We’re the poster girls for stuck between a rock and a hard place. But there’s got to be some broom jumping at the end of the dating tunnel right? I birthed this blog because I am an advocate for long-term dating with the intent to get married–especially in the black community where so much has happened to tear the black man and woman apart. I believe a life long commitment to one black man is my present and my future. So consider this blog my reflections on the road to that destiny. Will you join me on my quest for holy matrimony?

Who is Ms. Not-Right-Now? She’s in you. She’s in me. She is we.

***I am a woman but this blog in no way intentionally leaves out the thoughts, feelings, and desires of the Mr. Right-For-Nows of the world. I love men–and I came from a man– therefore this blog is just as much for you as it is for me.

  1. I love love love love love your blog!! Especially the blog about the analyzation of the movie “Baby Boy.” I have a “Tumblr” blog and I found your entry in there. Keep up the good work, you’re doing a GREAT job.

  2. Ms Not-Right-Now,

I (and I presume many others) can and do appreciate the honesty in your writings. In a society where its easier to look away from the mirror than straight into it, there is something wonderful to be said about a woman that can take an honest look at herself and assess how she fits into the very world she lives in with a realistic lens. You and your perspective conveyed here are both very much refreshing, and I will be back frequently to sip from the fountain of your virtual pen whenever I need to remind myself that such unicorns like yourself do in fact exist. Keep up the great work!

    • Thank you for your kind words. The unicorn analogy is one I can certainly relate to. I assure you it is equally as thirst quenching to find men who think deeply and critically and are not too embarrassed of their own intelligence to share! And since this comes from someone whose work I also respect, it touches me that much more.
